Mark joined the firm "of counsel" in January 2020 after a 21-year career as the Principal Court Attorney for the Honorable Peter C. Bradstreet in Supreme, County, Family and Surrogate’s Courts. He also works "of counsel" to the law firm of Cole & Valkenburgh, P.C., in Bath, New York. His practice includes family and matrimonial law, civil litigation and appellate work. Over this past year, Mark has also handled appeals for the Legal Aid Society of Rochester Juvenile Justice Division.
Before his time in the Court system, Mark worked for five years as a legal services attorney, handling landlord-tenant cases in State and local Courts, and public benefits matters before administrative tribunals, and for two years he was the Steuben County Family Court Public Defender, representing clients in custody, visitation, child support, abuse and neglect and paternity matters.
Mark has lectured extensively on family, civil and criminal law to lawyers, court personnel and judges throughout New York State. He is a regular presenter at seminars for the Appellate Division, Fourth Department, Attorney for the Child Program and has appeared as a guest speaker at the annual meeting of the County Judges Association of New York.
Mark is also very active in his local community. He has served as a member of the Bath Central School District Board of Education and as a Trustee with the Dormann Library. He has also worked closely with the Steuben County Youth Bureau, the Career Development Council, and area schools organizing legal presentations and events for students throughout the region.
Mark is the proud beneficiary of a public school education, having graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1984, and the University of Buffalo School of Law in 1991.
